NEW Split 7" with Deerhoof!

Polyvinyl has just released a split 7" as part of Deerhoof's concept series. A band takes the instrumental part of one of the songs off the new album "Deerhoof vs. Evil" and makes up their own lyrics and records new vocals. So we did. The B-side is a remix Greg from Deerhoof made of our song, "Quetzalcoatl's Ship." Available vinyl and digital.

Xiu Xiu

I should have said this sooner, but touring with Xiu Xiu was like erdbeeren mit schlagsahne. We'll confirm what you already know: they're an incredible band and wonderful people. It was completely inspiring and bar-raising to witness them over the course of six shows. It also gave us time to fall deeper into the heart-shredding, juice-pumping, gut-drenching whirlpool of concussion that is their music. Wow!

The Portuguese blog Bodyspace invited us to make a video of a live performance. We shot this video back in April, before we left for tour, with the help of the inimitable Dominic Santos and Mike Harrison. Coincidentally, at the same time we were invited by Joseph Del Pesco to do an installation and performance at the Berkeley Art Museum, so we shot the video there beneath the blue parachute that we hung from the ceiling.

Our shows this weekend were absolutely incredible. We are so grateful to have been invited to play to such an open and carefree audience! Not a single pair of crossed arms!
Creative Growth is a hot-house of positive energy. Never have we had people dance with such abandon to our music. And of course, it caused us to dance and play with abandon, too! Somehow I ended up dancing on my back on the floor!
Our friend Dominic Santos took some nice pictures so we figured we'd better start a Flickr account. More pictures and videos are on the way!

In the meantime we've been working hard on many things:
Making new music
Booking our own EU tour
Making the artwork for our album (details soon)

Lots of things are in the works! The EU tour booking is going surprisingly well considering we don't have an album out there yet and have never toured there. If anyone out there could help us with shows in Spain and Portugal we would much appreciate it!

We are excited to announce 2 bay area shows! One is at Creative Growth, an incredible art center for adults with disabilities. I have been a visiting artist there and am in the process of making a collaborative video with the artists. More on that at a later date...

They've asked WOOM to play at their opening party March 5th along with our friend Jim Fairchild of Modest Mouse and his solo project All Smiles. The evening will be warmed up by a Creative Growth artist Gerone Spruhill AKA DJ Disco Duck.

The event ends at 9pm some come early!

Stopping Off

Added a new link to the right. My friend Michael Dumontier's new blog, "Stopping Off Place." He's an amazing visual artist with a keen eye for the interesting and unusual which he'll be posting on his blog periodically. One thing that caught me already is the Fishli + Weiss album cover for Lilliput! One of my favorite artist teams teaming up with one of my favorite bands! And anthropomorphized plants!

Possibility Inspiration Transformation

I'm thinking about this time last winter...We had just returned from the longest tour of our lives. We were worn out and convalescing at the farm with 2 old cats and a dog. There was a fire to sit by. The songs we'd been playing for the past few months needed to be recorded, but wanted to change shape in the process. The music became something else entirely as it was put to tape...or hard drive...
